The lockout has prevented the Philadelphia Eagles from getting any work done on their offensive line with new position coach Howard Mudd. It hasn’t stopped those linemen for preparing for the veteran assistant. According to Geoff Mosher of the Wilmington News Journal, Mudd prefers smaller, more athletic linemen than how the Eagles have lined up recently. Former line coach Juan Castillo, of course, switched sides of the ball to become the team’s defensive coordinator. So, the linemen have been regularly working on slimming down and per the report Max Jean-Gilles, who had gastric lap band surgery in April 2010, is down to about 320 pounds. That’s roughly 80 pounds less than he was at the time of the surgery as he’s dropped some 30 pounds this offseason. The report also indicated right tackle Winston Justice will visit Dr. James Andrews this week to have his left knee examined. He had arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone chip in February, and it’s required a tedious recovery period.
